Top SchoolTracy Lum is a Senior Software Engineer based in New York with 11 years of full-stack experience building production systems in Elixir, Ruby, JavaScript, and CSS using Phoenix, Rails, React, and Redux. At GitHub and previously at Vimeo and Flatiron School, she has led end-to-end feature work—owning tech specs, UI design, data model changes, and cross-team coordination—to deliver billing, promotions, and enrollment systems that handle high event volumes and financial accuracy. She has strong domain experience in payments, tax integration, analytics pipelines, and refactoring monoliths into service-oriented designs, often advocating for pairing and thorough design spikes to reduce risk. Tracy pairs product sensibility with operational rigor, having designed scalable S3-based event transfers and automated invoicing and verification flows. Beyond shipping features, she invests in team health through documentation, mentoring, and technical culture-building like running book clubs and improving onboarding. Her background in journalism and research informs a detail-oriented, communicative approach to complex engineering problems.
