Top SchoolTyler Laing is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer and PTOE with two decades of hands-on experience designing and managing traffic operations and Intelligent Transportation Systems across California and Utah. He has led regional ITS programs and ramp metering operations, bridging field engineering, TMC support, and PS&E review to deliver reliable traffic control and communications infrastructure. Comfortable in both technical design and program management, Tyler also brings software and systems programming interests—having developed database and web applications for TMCs and surveying workflows. His background uniquely combines deep operational knowledge of ITS devices (CCTV, CMS, MVDS, fiber, HARs) with practical network and application support. Now based in California and currently at Caltrans, he’s known for translating complex traffic requirements into maintainable technical solutions and timing plans. Colleagues rely on him for pragmatic integration of civil, electrical, and software elements to keep traffic systems moving.
