Top SchoolWinston Hoy is a Lead Software Engineer based in New York with 13 years of experience blending front-end engineering and product leadership across startups and creative agencies. He has led frontend teams at Common Energy and VenueBook, steering architecture and delivery in React/Redux codebases while improving long-lived monolithic systems at e-commerce scale. Before software leadership he ran a visual media production company, producing award-caliber films, video, photography and client-facing digital products — a background that informs his product-first approach to UX and storytelling. Winston is passionate about people and mentorship, fostering sustainable collaboration and translating user empathy into product features that resonate. He combines practical engineering management with hands-on craft skills in production, editing and color grading, which gives him a rare cross-disciplinary perspective on creative technical problems. Colleagues know him for cleaning up legacy codebases thoughtfully while bringing in new clients and shaping product discovery end-to-end.
