Top SchoolXinxiang (Jason) Yang is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at Queen Mary with eight years of experience bridging academia and applied engineering across the UK, Canada, and China. He holds a PhD in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta and has progressed from teaching and postdoctoral research to faculty roles as a lecturer and associate professor before his current MSCA fellowship. Jason combines domain expertise in mining, safety, and subsurface engineering with practical software skills—he independently developed mine ventilation and analysis tools earlier in his career. Known for treating code like poetry, he brings a researcher’s rigor to reproducible computational solutions and an educator’s clarity to collaborative projects. An international background and hands-on field experience give him a rare perspective on translating complex engineering problems into deployable analytic tools.
