Top SchoolYixiao Sun is an autonomy engineer with a decade of hands-on experience building perception-to-control systems for aerial and mobile robots, currently advancing autonomy at Skydio. With an academic background at Stanford and a top-ranked CS/CE degree from UIUC, he blends deep learning for real-time instance segmentation and re-identification with classical state estimation and control, and has shipped GPU-optimized 3D reconstruction and symbolic accelerators for estimation problems. He has taught robot autonomy and applied his research in production settings—from UV-disinfection robots to cutting-edge drone tracking—demonstrating an unusual fluency across vision, state estimation, and control stacks. Based in Palo Alto, he’s driven by closing the loop between perception and motion, pairing academic rigor with production-grade engineering.
