Top SchoolZuozhi Wang is a Senior Software Engineer with 11 years of experience specializing in query optimization, incremental and streaming query processing, distributed systems, and observability. With a PhD in database systems from UC Irvine, he blends rigorous research—10+ publications and major contributions to Apache Texera—with hands-on production impact, including the Tempura optimizer deployed in Alibaba’s MaxCompute and contributions to Apache Calcite. At Observe (now part of Snowflake) he led Monitoring/Alerting and log search infrastructure, improving reliability, latency, and cost-efficiency at scale. Zuozhi favors clean architecture and high-quality code, and his background spans compiler and runtime design, real-time collaborative frontends, and low-latency monitoring systems. Notably, he has shipped research prototypes to production and earned industry recognition like Alibaba’s Innovative Research Award, reflecting a rare mix of academic depth and product-oriented engineering.
